Epsom & Ewell Refugee Network is committed to supporting refugees and asylum seekers in our area. We were founded in 2015 by an enthusiastic group of volunteers, and have since grown into a larger initiative as the number of refugees has increased. We are part of Good Company (Surrey).
EERN runs free English language classes four days a week at our Hub. We also provide opportunities to practice speaking English one-on-one with "conversation buddies", and can signpost to more language classes in the area.
Our Jobs Desk team are available weekly to provide advice and support for finding employment - including on writing CVs and cover letters, completing applications, and identifying job opportunities.
Our Help Desk is open twice a week for drop-in appointments. We are here to provide support wherever possible, including on issues such as housing support, help with schools, and accessing services and benefits.
We support refugee children and their families to navigate and understand the UK education system. Our education activities include one-to-one support with homework, peer mentoring sessions, and a yearly summer school for children and adults.
EERN regularly organises social activities for children and adults - from crafts groups, to art therapy, to choirs. We also organise events and excursions, including picnics, activity days, day trips, and residential trips.
EERN support workers provide one-to-one help for families from Ukraine, Afghanistan, Syria, and other countries, on issues including finance and benefits, schools, and accessing healthcare and other services.
We are grateful for any donation, no matter how large or small, so that we can continue to help refugees and asylum seekers in this area.
Together, we can make a difference.
